Just a swig…

Oh what fun we had at the winery.  Can you tell?

The Merry Family Winery had quite a selection.

Some wines had flavors I’ve never tasted before, like the Kiwi Watermelon Pinot Grigio or the Cranberry Shiraz.

It was a pretty informal place and one of the women knew the owner fairly well, so the ladies brought in snacks and games and we had a great time sipping and laughing.  A wonderful way to spend a Saturday afternoon and evening. 😉

The snacks proved a little challenging, but I stuck to my guns and followed the “If It Doesn’t Have a Mama” March guidelines.  In were tortilla chips, veggies and fruit and Amish cheese.  Yay!  Out were Fritos (um, yeah, saw that one coming, didn’t ya?), crackers and chocolate chip cookies.  Sad face.  I didn’t want to make a big deal out of my restrictions with this challenge, so instead of grilling people on the food, I just stuck with what I could recognize and feel confident eating.  This was my plate:

Times about three.  Or four.  Okay.  Six.  Times six.  Yum.

Before the wine tasting, I whipped up a Green Monster Smoothie (since my breakfast was a little lacking in the fruit/veg department) and ate two clementines.  In my frenzy to make room on the memory card at the winery, however, I deleted the pictures.  I think you know what it looks like.  😉  Google if you don’t.

Dinner was a challenge.  I had it in mind I was going to come home and make coconut shrimp — delicious, has mamas and grows in the ground and all that jazz.  It was not meant to be.  The bag of frozen shrimp we had in the freezer had a huge word I couldn’t pronounce and didn’t recognize.  Double sad face.  I was going to be experimenting with this recipe AND I was looking forward to have the shrimp.

Since it’s the end of the week, we’re slim on groceries and I just didn’t feel like putting a lot of effort into anything after my deep sea dreams were dashed.  So I took a cue from some other food blogs, grabbed a cashed-out jar of Trader Joe’s natural PB and made….

Oats in a jar.  I loved how the oatmeal made the peanut butter all melty and it blended together.  I threw in some raisins for good measure.  After all the snacking at the wine tasting, it was just right.

The half marathon training schedule calls for today to be a 50 minute cross training day.  Um.  I don’t know about that.  Somehow the day got away from me and here I am without much day left, trying to figure out how to fit the training in.  Guess I better just get to it, although I’ve read that exercising within a few hours of bed is a bad idea.

Or is this just me talking myself out of it? It’s so hard to tell.
